Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
