19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional victory, took control to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
