President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Members to White House

President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their memory.

White House Offer

The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that educators wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always ready to support those in need.”

Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident caused the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt issuing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general told a news show that she aimed to meet with his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the gathering at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
