Patrick Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Chants About Coach Chris Wilder

The striker has signed with Sheffield United only half a year after starting derogatory chants targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. His lengthy time at Elland Road was ended through agreement in August.

One of Bamford’s last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading offensive chants about Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations this spring. Now, the former England international will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to lift his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Past Conflict Between Bamford & Wilder

Both men had history before Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season and United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as “a muppet” back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured automatic promotion while Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Looking Ahead

Everything seems has been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of improvement in attack and Bamford hoping to revive his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral this spring. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, called Wilder the next day.

Chris Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I’ve no problem at all with it. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion together and he's a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we would give it and take it and that’s an integral part of football across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Challenges

Bamford made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the ex- Forest, Chelsea and Boro player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
