Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 40-year-old presenter was confronted by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.

The motive of the attack is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, police said.

How It Happened

Police indicated that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.

He had devoted time at the property managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, as per local media.

"Authorities believe the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," a police statement confirmed.

CCTV footage showed a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what appeared to be a security uniform shooting on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.

Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.

"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been tracking them to determine their destination," remarked an authority figure.
